Portfolio

Foundational Dockerized Django project for a portfolio website.

Start

docker compose run --rm frontend npm run build
docker compose up --build -d
docker compose exec web python manage.py migrate

The development server is available at http://localhost:8000. Portfolio entries and their map regions can be managed at http://localhost:8000/admin/.

Common Commands

docker compose exec web python manage.py check
docker compose exec web python manage.py migrate
docker compose exec web python manage.py test
docker compose run --rm frontend npm run test
docker compose run --rm frontend npm run build
docker compose down

.env.example contains local-only development defaults. Create a separate untracked .env and update compose.yaml before using environment-specific values outside local development.

Map Data

The React map island uses committed, optimized TopoJSON assets derived from public-domain Natural Earth Admin-0 and Admin-1 data. The browser does not request a map provider or API key.
